Guest Joyce Hodgson Posted November 5, 2012 at 04:41 PM Report Share Posted November 5, 2012 at 04:41 PM Our theater has a Governing Board and an Artistic Committee. Should the leadership of these two groups be Chairperson and President, respectively or the opposite?
rthib Posted November 5, 2012 at 04:45 PM Report Share Posted November 5, 2012 at 04:45 PM I would make it simple: Chair of Governing Board, Chair of Artistic Committee.
Guest Edgar Posted November 5, 2012 at 04:47 PM Report Share Posted November 5, 2012 at 04:47 PM Our theater has a Governing Board and an Artistic Committee. Should the leadership of these two groups be Chairperson and President, respectively or the opposite?I think the presiding officer of both boards and committees is usually referred to as the Chair (or chairman or chairwoman or chairperson) and the presiding officer of the general membership (i.e. the association) is usually the President but, in the end, it's up to each organization to determine.Of course if these offices are defined in your bylaws, those are the titles you should use (until you amend the bylaws).
