rweismiller Posted June 25, 2014 at 03:25 PM Report Share Posted June 25, 2014 at 03:25 PM Once a Chairman of a board steps down as chairman, should he not also resign from the Board? The person in question would not voluntarily leave the board and after a couple of months no other board members wanted to step up and be the Chairperson, so this person sent out an email and basically nominated himself to be chairman again and because there were no other board members who wanted the position because the person did not leave the board, he is once again the Chairman??If this person would have left the board and created an opening there was already someone waiting to step in and take over but couldn't because the board was already full?? jstackpo Posted June 25, 2014 at 04:32 PM Report Share Posted June 25, 2014 at 04:32 PM Nothing in RONR would require the chairman to leave the board even though he resigned the office of chairman.
Timothy Posted June 25, 2014 at 04:34 PM Report Share Posted June 25, 2014 at 04:34 PM Nothing in RONR requires a chairman to also resign from the board if he resigns as chairman. It would've made just as much sense for one of the other members to give up their seat, though nothing in RONR requires that either.

There's no Vice Chair? If not, you might want to remedy that deficiency.
