jstackpo Posted February 10, 2015 at 09:37 AM Report Share Posted February 10, 2015 at 09:37 AM What will happen when the number of replies on the General Discussion Board hits 100,000? It stands at 95,800 now. Will the system crash? Who will have the honor of destroying the Board? Will it be like Y2K, but R100K? Stay tuned. Edgar Guest Posted February 10, 2015 at 12:12 PM Report Share Posted February 10, 2015 at 12:12 PM It stands at 95,800 now. Did you mean 98,500? And that's just the number of "replies" so it's not clear if the original posts are included. The total number of posts on all three forums (fora?) is over 129,400. Anyway, the IP Board Support Forum currently has over 130,000 posts so I don't think there's any cause for alarm.

It stands at 95,800 now. Will the system crash? Who will have the honor of destroying the Board? Will it be like Y2K, but R100K? Stay tuned. Well, the General Discussion Board has now exceeded 100,000 replies and it seems to be going on as strong as ever...
Gary Novosielski Posted March 12, 2015 at 12:32 PM Report Share Posted March 12, 2015 at 12:32 PM Well, the General Discussion Board has now exceeded 100,000 replies and it seems to be going on as strong as ever...Since 100 000 is not a power of two, it is not likely to be a binary boundary line of any sort. Perhaps we should watch out for 131,072, which is 217.

jstackpo Posted March 13, 2015 at 01:45 PM Author Report Share Posted March 13, 2015 at 01:45 PM Assuming 32 bit positive integer word lengths in the RONR server, we should be good until 2^^32 - 1 = 4,294,967,295 entries I guess I can rest easy for awhile. star Posted April 2, 2015 at 03:01 AM Report Share Posted April 2, 2015 at 03:01 AM Just be sure that your forum handlers are backing your site up daily.Another board like this one was recently lost. The handlers did not back up. Years of info...gone.
Boss Lady Posted April 3, 2015 at 11:31 AM Report Share Posted April 3, 2015 at 11:31 AM Just want to reassure everyone that the forum will withstand 100k messages/replies, and the site has incremental backups daily and full back ups weekly. So all of your wise words are saved for posterity! I can't promise it will all be here for your grandchildren's grandchildren, but your messages are secure. So all of your wise words are saved for posterity! I can't promise it will all be here for your grandchildren's grandchildren, but your messages are secure. That's very good to hear!! I, for one, am still distressed that everything from the "old" forum is apparently lost forever.
