Guest Stretch Posted April 1, 2015 at 09:04 PM Report Share Posted April 1, 2015 at 09:04 PM What if any financial records are members privy to outside of the monthly report given by the Treasurer? I ask this because a member is requesting 5 years (or since he lost his last election) worth of finances. His wish is being granted but are we obligated to do so? Josh Martin Posted April 1, 2015 at 10:02 PM Report Share Posted April 1, 2015 at 10:02 PM What if any financial records are members privy to outside of the monthly report given by the Treasurer?None, at least so far as RONR is concerned. Your organization's rules or applicable law may provide otherwise.I ask this because a member is requesting 5 years (or since he lost his last election) worth of finances. His wish is being granted but are we obligated to do so?Not according to RONR.

Richard Brown Posted April 1, 2015 at 10:14 PM Report Share Posted April 1, 2015 at 10:14 PM Well, RONR does give the member the right to examine the records of the secretary (RONR page 460). If the treasurer has filed written reports which the secretary keeps on file, the member would have the right to examine those documents. But, as has already been pointed out. RONR does not give members the right to inspect the treasurer's records.

DanielEHayes Posted April 2, 2015 at 01:49 PM Report Share Posted April 2, 2015 at 01:49 PM Also, public bodies, political parties and some other types of organizations may have state or federal guidelines for disclosure. You will need to determine that through your own research as that falls outside of Robert's Rules and thereby the scope of this forum, if it applies to you.
