Board member making nomination

I mean can a board member sitting at the board table not out in the forum of members can they nominate someobe for a position

Just out of curiosity, why are your board members sitting at a separate "board table" at a meeting of the general membership?  The board is not present "as a board" at general membership meetings unless your bylaws contain such a provision.  Any board members who are present at a general membership meeting are there as regular members and should be playing no special role.

Probably because that's how it is traditionally done in this organization. The board members must have done something to achieve that status, and now they want to bask in the glory of it. There is no rule against that in RONR.

And even if there were such a provision, it wouldn't make much sense.

But they're also there as board members because they are, in fact, board members. Maybe their role is to peer out sternly at the other members from within their cushy seats at the "board table." Or maybe the chair traditionally appoints some of them as tellers when a counted vote or a ballot vote is needed. And the president, who presumably is a board member, should be presiding. And the secretary, who presumably is also a board member, should be taking the minutes. And probably the treasurer is a board member too, and maybe it's more convenient to present the treasurer's report from the "board table" than from the "forum of members." And maybe, when the members hear the board's report about all the things it has done since the last meeting, they find it convenient to have a single table toward which to lob their rotten tomatoes. :)

At the fire department (I know) we do all those things without even having a board.  The Chief, Secretary, and Treasurer, wearing our extra regalia as "executive officers" (defined in NIMS to separate from line officers, which are called Command Staff in NIMS), sit at the front table, staring sternly, and ducking vegetables.

Term ends in December!
