Annual Board Election: Vote by Slate or by Director?

At annual meeting to elect officers, can association member ask for vote (voice or hand) for each officer as opposed to voting on entire slate? No specifics stated in Bylaws.

If by "voting on entire slate", you mean one vote to elect a number of different nominees to different offices on a single ballot, that is not proper, since it would amount to a yes/no vote on the list of nominees. Yes/ No voting should never be used in an election, whether for one or more than one office. Each office should be voted on separately, even if they are all listed on one ballot. Your organization can decide whether it wants to vote for each office on a separate ballot, or for all of the offices to be listed on the same ballot. A member can ask for one or the other of these methods by motion, which requires a second and majority vote.

If you decide to list the candidates for different offices on a single ballot, there are special conditions that apply if one person is elected to more than one office. See RONR, 11th ed. p. 440, ll. 3-17 for the details.

He shouldn't have to ask, since voting on an entire "slate" is not proper in the first place.

And when voting for officers, RONR recommends a ballot vote, which would give the opportunity for write-in votes.
