J H Smith Posted March 21, 2016 at 06:30 PM Report Share Posted March 21, 2016 at 06:30 PM What would be the complement of an Election Committee? Should the members be approved by a majority vote of members at a month-end Meeting prior to an election?

Joshua Katz Posted March 21, 2016 at 06:39 PM Report Share Posted March 21, 2016 at 06:39 PM The complement of an Election Committee is, presumably, all members of the organization who aren't on the Election Committee, or perhaps all humans who are not on the Election Committee. That aside, your Election Committee should be appointed by whatever procedures are described in your bylaws or rules where the Election Committee is described. Gary Novosielski Posted March 21, 2016 at 09:48 PM Report Share Posted March 21, 2016 at 09:48 PM Except as concerns a convention, RONR has no mention of an election committee. And although a nominations committee is a fairly common fixture in many organizations, an election committee is normally not needed. A tellers' committee, appointed by the chair to conduct the vote count, is usually sufficient. In your organization, is an election committee mentioned in your bylaws? What would the duties of such a committee be, in your view?
