The vote required would be a majority vote, not 50% plus one.  Majority means more than half.  Period.  A majority vote is more yes votes than no votes.  It would be based on a majority vote of those present and voting.

As noted in the answer to the FAQ, a vote of "no confidence" really doesn't accomplish anything other than expressing disapproval.

I disagree, at least in part. If the chair is the regular elected chairman, it requires a two-thirds vote to remove him from presiding at a meeting. A chairman Pro Tem or someone who is not the regular presiding officer can be removed with a majority vote

As noted in the pages cited, a majority vote will suffice only if the chair is an appointed or elected chairman pro tem. If not, a motion to suspend the rules must be used, which will require a two-thirds vote for its adoption.
