Our bylaws state that EB1 and EB2 must resign their current positions to seek FS. This opens two seats. Nominations are in May, election is in June. The FS election will be votes on first. But, if I am counting right, you will still have one vacancy left to fill by another election in June. Or maybe not. This seems a little confused, or perhaps I am. All elections are secret ballot at the time of regularly scheduled meeting. EB1 and EB2 are both running for FS. We have enough eligible members to fill both of their vacancies. So, if EB2 loses FS can he be nominated for his old position moments before the election of his previous position? What if both EB1 and EB2 old position are run unopposed? Robert's Rules has no restrictions on nominations of this form, so any rule restricting EB1 and EB2 from running for reelection after they lose FS would have to be in your bylaws. Robert's Rules does provide for nominations from the floor immediately prior to an election, so unless you have more special rules about nominations there is nothing preventing that nomination. > What if both EB1 and EB2 old position are run unopposed? Vs having multiple candidates? This has no bearing on how nominations work. If there is only one nominee for an office, rather than having a vote, the chair simply declares them elected. The exception is if the bylaws require a ballot and don't have an exception for an unopposed candidate. In this case, you must still have a ballot.
