Guest Deputy clerk Posted May 3, 2017 at 09:22 PM Report Share Posted May 3, 2017 at 09:22 PM The Village did not have anyone run for the Treasurer position. I am deputy clerk and have done most of the treasurers duties myself. The soon to be former treasurer only did the big things such as tax levies, rate increases and things like that. First, do we have to have a Treasurer if I can do what he did? He has shown me how to do tax levies, rate increases, etc. Second, if we need to have a treasurer, my sister expressed interest in the Treasurer position. Can my sister take that position being as I do the daily treasurer duties such as making deposits? I didn't know if that was a conflict of interest or not. I am the only person in the office and my town is very small. Population less than 1500. Thanks for any help!
Guest Who's Coming to Dinner Posted May 3, 2017 at 10:58 PM Report Share Posted May 3, 2017 at 10:58 PM As a unit of government, surely your questions are a matter of public law, not parliamentary procedure. You should to ask an attorney who is familiar with the codes there in Tiny Town and at levels of government above you.
