Guest LaVern Posted May 19, 2017 at 04:11 PM Report Share Posted May 19, 2017 at 04:11 PM If a primary amendment states " to include groups AAA and BBB" to the main motion. Discussion indicates that group BBB does not desire to be involved. Can the primary amendment be modified to remove group BBB?
Greg Goodwiller, PRP Posted May 19, 2017 at 04:14 PM Report Share Posted May 19, 2017 at 04:14 PM Yes, that's what a "secondary amendment" does - it proposes an amendment to a pending primary amendment.
Dan Honemann Posted May 19, 2017 at 04:21 PM Report Share Posted May 19, 2017 at 04:21 PM First of all, "to include groups AAA and BBB" does not appear to constitute a proper form of primary amendment.
Guest LaVern Posted May 19, 2017 at 04:34 PM Report Share Posted May 19, 2017 at 04:34 PM The AP would be " that our organization include two other groups AAA and BBB in the city wide recognition of Founders Days. " Discussion indicates that group BBB has a standing committee on Founders Days and does not wish to be included in our plans. can the AP be modified to withdraw group BBB? Dan Honemann Posted May 19, 2017 at 04:52 PM Report Share Posted May 19, 2017 at 04:52 PM Are you sure that "that our organization include two other groups AAA and BBB in the city wide recognition of Founders Days" isn't a main motion? It certainly appears to be. But I suppose it doesn't matter. A motion to amend it (whatever it is) by striking out "two other groups AAA and BBB" and inserting "group AAA" would appear to be in order.
