Wouldn't stopping it also raise the same problem?  "Hey, you can't talk about that, we said during the ES that..."

The assembly could go into executive session to inform the absent member what happened, then leave to resume consideration of the matter at hand. Or the member could be informed privately, since the secrecy of an executive session prohibits non-members from being told what happened, not absent members.
