Bigq Posted June 13, 2017 at 11:49 AM Report Share Posted June 13, 2017 at 11:49 AM i am a member of the city planning commission but missed yesterday's meeting. At the meeting a motion to permit a zoning variance was under discussion. A member of the commission made a motion to table (probably meant to move to postpone but that is another discussion) which was seconded but never voted on as the original discussion continued. What options now exist since nobody said anything at the meeting? Is there anything I can do since I was not there? thanks for the help
Gary Novosielski Posted June 13, 2017 at 12:22 PM Report Share Posted June 13, 2017 at 12:22 PM So the motion to permit the variance was still pending when the meeting adjourned? If so, it should come up again, automatically, under Unfinished Business, at the next meeting.
Dan Honemann Posted June 13, 2017 at 01:04 PM Report Share Posted June 13, 2017 at 01:04 PM It is too late for anyone to raise a point of order concerning the commission's failure to consider and vote on the motion to table.
Bigq Posted June 13, 2017 at 02:04 PM Author Report Share Posted June 13, 2017 at 02:04 PM In answer to Wonk, the variance was voted on after the motion to table was ignored and it passed.

Then Mr. Honemann's answer still stands. Time to move on.

In that case, the variance has passed. It would have been possible to raise a point of order regarding the improper handling of the motion to table/postpone, or whatever it was, at the time, but it's too late now.
