Guest Sagecarol Posted May 21, 2010 at 07:36 PM Report Share Posted May 21, 2010 at 07:36 PM A motion was made and passed at a previous meeting. The minority wants to revisit it again at a meeting a month later. Does a motion to revisit or rescind have to be made at the same meeting that the motion passed? Chris Harrison Posted May 21, 2010 at 07:41 PM Report Share Posted May 21, 2010 at 07:41 PM The motion to Reconsider has a very limited time in which it can be made (RONR pp. 305-306) so pretty much it can only be made the same day as the motion was voted on. The motion to Rescind/Amend Something Previously Adopted doesn't have to be raised the same day as the motion was adopted (RONR pp. 293-299). Does a motion to revisit or rescind have to be made at the same meeting that the motion passed? No. At any subsequent meeting, any member can make a motion to rescind or amend the previously adopted motion. There's no time limit (as long as what was done can be un-done).
