Shmuel Gerber Posted September 16, 2012 at 04:20 PM Report Share Posted September 16, 2012 at 04:20 PM Now for me this gets us to a logic issue, at least when one attempts to correct that which deviates from the prescribed format, there are various issues which are prohibited, but there are many more which are not. I have not found (nor have I looked too hard) for the statement that indicated the prescribed format "should not be deviated from except for good reason," and even if that statement exists, I am sure that the president's personal preference would be considered a sufficient reason.Presumably your organization has something along the lines of "The rules contained in the current edition of Robert’s Rules of Order Newly Revised shall govern ______________ in all cases to which they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with these bylaws and any special rules of order ______________ may adopt." "Close enough for government work, but that section ought to be amended.I guess you'll have to make those corrections at a meeting.
Mike Arnold Posted September 21, 2012 at 01:47 PM Author Report Share Posted September 21, 2012 at 01:47 PM We seem determined to only meet 2 times per year in person, maybe 1-2 more times on phone, all with "essential" business, never more than 4 hours at a time. We have term limits, so it might just be easier to wait it out.
