jstackpo Posted March 14, 2015 at 09:38 PM Report Share Posted March 14, 2015 at 09:38 PM I clicked on "Follow this Topic" in a particular thread (such as this one) and was invited to agree to receive "instant" notifications when someone responded in the topic thread. I agreed but nothing has come to me as a notification, even when someone has added to the thread. Not working?
Hieu H. Huynh Posted March 14, 2015 at 10:01 PM Report Share Posted March 14, 2015 at 10:01 PM It has been working for me. Have you looked at "My Settings" (located under your name at the upper right corner)? For "Notification Options", there are boxes to check off to allow notifications and the method of receiving notifications ("Notification List" or "Email"). George Mervosh Posted March 16, 2015 at 04:23 PM Report Share Posted March 16, 2015 at 04:23 PM You can also set it up in your profile that only topics you respond in will be followed. You will receive a notification for every subsequent reply and you don't need to do anything. Just posting in a thread "follow"s it.
Gary Novosielski Posted March 17, 2015 at 12:07 PM Report Share Posted March 17, 2015 at 12:07 PM I must have set it up that way a long time ago, and forgot about it, because anything I respond to is "followed". Also, a trick it took me a while to stumble across concerns the new-post bullets that appear in front of topics in the main topic list. A round dot indicates new content; a star instead indicates activity in a topic you've replied to. Clicking directly on either of those symbols (instead of the topic title) takes you directly to the new content.
