SJSchmidt Posted August 25, 2017 at 06:22 AM Report Share Posted August 25, 2017 at 06:22 AM Our Bylaws state that our fiscal year is July 1 - June 30. The installation of new officers takes place June 14. When does the new president begin her duties officially? June 15 or July
Gary c Tesser Posted August 25, 2017 at 09:16 AM Report Share Posted August 25, 2017 at 09:16 AM The fiscal year is not pertinent. ANd installation is a ceremony that has no clout. Officers take office upon election, unless the bylaws say otherwise. M. Schmidt, do your bylaws say nothing about it?
Guest Who's Coming to Dinner Posted August 25, 2017 at 06:43 PM Report Share Posted August 25, 2017 at 06:43 PM Right. If the bylaws don't provide otherwise, your new president officially begins her duties when her election is announced. As a practical matter, incoming and outgoing officers usually share duties during a transitional period. But that is a matter of custom.
