Guest JIrwin Posted September 28, 2017 at 02:28 PM Report Share Posted September 28, 2017 at 02:28 PM Can a written vote be taken on a Motion for Amendment? Is there a limit on the number of Motions for Amendment to a single document an individual can make, or a limit on the total number of Motions for Amendment than can be made to a single document? Richard Brown Posted September 28, 2017 at 02:43 PM Report Share Posted September 28, 2017 at 02:43 PM (edited) A motion to require a written ballot can be adopted for any motion (and an amendment is a motion). Only two amendments to a main motion can be pending at any one time: a primary amendment and a secondary amendment. There is no limit to the number of motions (or amendments) that a member can make. Any such restriction would have to be in your own rules. Note : a proposed bylaws amendment is considered a main motion, so it can have up to two amendments to it pending at one time. There is also no limit to the total number of amendments that can be made to a single document Edited September 28, 2017 at 02:45 PM by Richard Brown Added last paragraph
J. J. Posted September 28, 2017 at 04:28 PM Report Share Posted September 28, 2017 at 04:28 PM A ballot vote can be taken on an amendment. It would require a majority vote, usually taken by voice.
