Guest Marianne Posted May 20, 2010 at 01:00 PM Report Share Posted May 20, 2010 at 01:00 PM Quick question. Our bylaws specify that there be a president to preside over meetings, a treasurer to replace president when president absent, and secretary to replace president with both pres and treasurer are absentDuring a general membership meeting of parents (PTA) it is expected that all three officers will not be present.(1) How does it work to replace the secretary, when secretary replaces president (there is nothing in our bylaws and RRO governs)(2) How does it work to replace both secretary and president when all three officers are absent. Thanks
hmtcastle Posted May 20, 2010 at 01:09 PM Report Share Posted May 20, 2010 at 01:09 PM The RONR rule is for any member to call the meeting to order and conduct a brief election for a chair pro tem (a temporary presiding officer) and then a secretary pro tem (a temporary secretary). Whether your customized rules conflict with this practice is another question. I assume you don't have a vice-president?
