Guest Harris J Sklar Posted May 21, 2010 at 05:57 PM Report Share Posted May 21, 2010 at 05:57 PM A packet of information concerning a member of an organization of which I am a member has been distributed and the President of the Board stated:"Where the bylaws are silent, we rely on Roberts Rules of order which require confidentiality to protect the person charged."Is there such a Rule and if so where can it be found. I have a copy of the Rules and have been unable to find such a requirement but my copy dates back to 1951.Thank you,Harris
Robert B Fish Posted May 21, 2010 at 06:04 PM Report Share Posted May 21, 2010 at 06:04 PM Replace your 1951 copy with a current copy of RONR (10th ed). You want to read Chapter XX, "Discipline" that discusses how charges against a member may be brought forward. -Bob

Guest Harris J Sklar Posted May 22, 2010 at 02:56 PM Report Share Posted May 22, 2010 at 02:56 PM Thanks Bob,Since there is a Barnes & Noble a block away, with your suggestion I was able to quickly find the information I needed. BTW, the 1951 copy I have is from when I was the Parliamentarian at my college fraternity. First time I have referred to it since the early 50's - brought back a lot of memories.Harris

I think that, when quotation marks are used, the quotation should be accurate.
