Guest Mike Posted June 13, 2010 at 08:09 PM Report Share Posted June 13, 2010 at 08:09 PM Hello,Question I have is this: Two members of our organization, both females engaged in a fist fight in our local establishment. The problem is, our club has a zero tolerance rule when it comes to fighting in our establishment. Its posted allover our walls. One of these members is a bartender at our establishment. This is what we are up against. Our board of directors today, issued both of these individuals 30 days suspension, based off their actions. The one that is employed stated she was going to get a lawyer and sue our organization, because we do not allow her to work for those 30 days. Under Roberts Rules of Oder, when a suspension is issued to individuals, they lose all priveleges whatsoever. Our we correct!

Our we correct!Well, she might lose some or all of her rights and privileges as a member, but that doesn't mean she loses her rights as an employee. You might want a lawyer of your own. Kim Goldsworthy Posted June 13, 2010 at 10:51 PM Report Share Posted June 13, 2010 at 10:51 PM Under Roberts Rules of Order, when a suspension is issued to individuals, they lose all privileges whatsoever. Are we correct? When a suspension is properly done (which may not be the case here), then the rights which are suspended can be a range. It is not always, not necessary, 100% of all rights. In theory, you could suspend a member's right to a LIMITED purpose.E.g.: to use the club saloon; to have his offensive diatribes from being published in the club newsletter; etc.
