amanti Posted July 8, 2010 at 03:18 PM Report Share Posted July 8, 2010 at 03:18 PM Our Treasurer resigned her position on the Board with only 2 weeks left to her term of office. She had already been re-elected to her position, prior to the resignation, for next term. Is she still the elected Treasurer for the new term and needs to be sworn in, or do we need to hold another election for the new term? If we need to hold another election, can she run for the same office again?
jstackpo Posted July 8, 2010 at 06:00 PM Report Share Posted July 8, 2010 at 06:00 PM Was her resignation accepted by whatever body is empowered to fill the (short) vacancy?Did she also state that she was now refusing to resume the position that she was elected to, two weeks from now, IN ADDITION TO wishing to leave her current position? hmtcastle Posted July 8, 2010 at 06:05 PM Report Share Posted July 8, 2010 at 06:05 PM I'm not sure why she couldn't resign from the remainder of the current term without necessarily resigning from the next term (not that it's clear that that's what she wants to do!).It's also not clear whether she intends to resign from the board in addition to resigning as treasurer (assuming that's possible). Finally, it's not clear why she would choose to run again for an office she was just re-elected to and from which she may or may not have resigned. Maybe she just wanted a two-week vacation? In short, a few more details might prove helpful.
Guest maddieella Posted July 8, 2010 at 06:08 PM Report Share Posted July 8, 2010 at 06:08 PM The resignation was for the remaining 2 weeks of the term. This was accepted by the Board. No mention of the new term was mentioned by the Treasurer, nor by any Board member.

jstackpo Posted July 8, 2010 at 08:27 PM Report Share Posted July 8, 2010 at 08:27 PM But if she really did intend to resign for those two weeks and no more, then she will be your treasurer (again) come the day when she (and other newly elected, or reelected officers) takes office.
