A convoluted and difficult issue. Our Constitution & By Laws require a special meeting to be called by the Pastor, Chairman of Deacons or by presentation of a pertition signed by 25 members to the moderator. Notice of the meeting is required by stating the purpose and time in the bulletine and/or notice from the pulpit on Sunday morning and Evening prior to the meeting. I'm not sure I buy this idea of editing the agenda for a special meeting. At least not insofar as 'editing' could include the ability to remove the original purpose for which the special meeting was called, and to replace it with a different purpose. Isn't that awfully close to cancelling a called meeting, which should be impossible? Can one really turn a meeting called to throw out a crooked board member... into a meeting to authorize the purchase of new benches for the gazebo?? Maybe 'editing'
