  1. It's the board's interpretation of the bylaws quoted above - that because the envelope does not have a postmark, the nomination application can be rejected.
  2. This is not during a general membership assembly. Voting is done electronically because the membership is spread across the United States.
  3. Is USPS informed delivery the same as a postmark? Situation - a nominee for a board position mailed a nomination application and it was received by the club secretary on March 14. The secretary has USPS informed delivery because she travels. The issue is the envelope was not postmarked for some reason. The board is planning to reject the nomination application because of the lack of a bar code. This is the section from the club's bylaws: "Additional nominations of voting members in good standing may be made by written petition addressed to the secretary and postmarked on or before March 15th. " Thoughts?
  4. Our club recent mailed ballots to our membership for a certain aspect of the club (not an election of officers/directors), as required by our bylaws. A member who has already voted and returned their ballot wishes to change their vote. The deadline for the vote is still 6 days away. I would think that once a vote is cast, it is cast and cannot be recast. Does RONR cover this type of situation?
  5. The bylaws for our dog club state: "The application shall state the name, address and occupation of the applicant and it shall carry the endorsement of two members in good standing." The membership application has a place for signatures of the two members in good standing. Can those signature lines be removed from the application without a change to the bylaws?
  6. The ineligibility occurred after the meeting. We always go by the highest # of votes, as long as we have a quorum and we did have a quorum.
  7. Thanks - this isn't an election for club officers or directors. It's for a judge for a dog show.
  8. Situation: Judge A received 8 votes Judge B received 8 votes Judge C received 2 votes We revoted, leaving out Judge C Judge A received 10 votes Judge B received 8 votes Judge A was declared the winner but was deemed ineligible two days later. Are we obligated to revote with Judge B and C or do we go with Judge B?
  9. Thanks for the response but this isn't based on a majority vote. In the past, it's not been an issue because we've never had someone declared ineligible before. It's always been the highest # of votes. Is there a RROR that covers this?
  10. I have a question on voting that isn't covered in our bylaws. Our club votes for judges for a show we have. This year, we had three people submitted. After voting, the first person was deemed ineligible. Does this automatically go to the 2nd highest # of votes? Trying to find something in RROR. Thanks!
