Guest Sharon Posted February 4, 2011 at 07:23 PM Report Share Posted February 4, 2011 at 07:23 PM I received good advice on how to handle this for a meeting of the general assembly.. and THANKS. In my reading, I see references to situations where this can be repeated meeting after meeting. Since our AGM is one place where the general membership has authority to vote on everything, I wonder if it is truely possible for the general membership to do this during the monthly meetings of the Board. For those meetings, the only time our Board allows the general membership to speak is during a comment session after the business is complete. Its causing serious difficulties in the community. Trying to focus my question. Can the general membership, not Board members, take this action (creating a President ProTem) in a monthly meeting of the Board? ON a side note... When there are inaccuracies in the minutes or the treasurer's report, the general membership is not allowed to comment. Only the Board members are asked for corrections and additions. Twice I've seen errors in minutes but haven't been allowed to let anyone know. Is there a procedure/script for this? No. Only board members have parliamentary rights at board meetings. If you're not a member of the board, you don't even have a right to be there.(Same goes for the minutes.) George Mervosh Posted February 4, 2011 at 07:48 PM Report Share Posted February 4, 2011 at 07:48 PM Yes, but it would be pointless. There are better ways to get what you want.

Guest sharon Posted February 4, 2011 at 09:27 PM Report Share Posted February 4, 2011 at 09:27 PM Thank you all. I know that I MUST get on the Bylaws committee again. The behavior of the current Board president is unforgivable and a peace loving Board is avoiding conflict they often seem shell shocked. Hopefully the Board will elect someone else at the AGM.. fingers crossed. We don't have an executive committee.. the bylaws are very clear on this. The whole Board is supposed to be involved in all Board actions. Our President has some idea that he has been elected our supreme leader. oops.. sorry for the rant.
