Voting on a motion

When we have a vote on a motion our president - ask that we vote yes to approve and same sign(not sure of spelling) to not approve. I have not heard of this same sign method. What should be the response then if we choose to vote to not approve?

Thank You

Tell him to stop doing that.

The use of "same sign" is acceptable (but not advised), if the chair says something like "All in favor, raise your hand . . . all opposed, same sign" (i.e. raise your hand). It doesn't work too well with "yes" and "no".
