IF FALSE INFORMATION IS GIVEN AND A VOTE IS TAKEN ON THE FALSE INFORMATION CAN THAT VOTE BE TAKEN BACK?

If the motion was adopted and the action has not yet been carried out, the motion may be rescinded. The motion to Rescind requires a 2/3 vote, vote of a majority of the entire membership, or a majority vote with previous notice. If the motion was defeated, it may be renewed at the next meeting.

No.

The vote result does not change just because new information has been presented, or just because the rationale was false or misleading or incomplete or biased.

• If the vote was affirmative, the vote stands.

Depending on what was adopted, you might be able to amend it or rescind it.

• A negative vote is a different case, since nothing was adopted.

Whatever was rejected can be moved again in a future session (a future order of business).
