kingmadison Posted April 27, 2011 at 12:21 PM Report Share Posted April 27, 2011 at 12:21 PM I am a member of a non-profit board and a citizen made a motion that the chair repeated and introduced. The motion was seconded and was voted on. Some of us do not think ROberts Rules allows citizens to make motions for the board to vote on; that should be done by board members after some discussion. Are we correct.
George Mervosh Posted April 27, 2011 at 01:02 PM Report Share Posted April 27, 2011 at 01:02 PM Yes, but it's too late now to worry about it. The vote stands. Object quickly next time.
Rev Ed Posted April 27, 2011 at 05:31 PM Report Share Posted April 27, 2011 at 05:31 PM Most Boards meet in Executive Session by default. However, the Board can move into Executive Session at any time. During Executive Session, only members of the group can legally attend and thus anyone else can be removed from the room. That, of course, is not the case.

That, of course, is not the case. That is true - however non-members would have to be invited and that invitation can always be revoked.
