Our veteran organization's by laws are silent as to how many positions a person can run for during a term of office.Past practice is one. Our by-laws claerly state we follow Robert's Rules of Order when ae by-laws are silent to a topic. How many positions can the same person run for in a term of office under Robert's Ruules?

There is no limit on how many offices a person can be nominated for. See RONR (10th ed.), p. 418, ll. 13-17.

RONR does not define (or use) the term "run for" but, as Mr. Elsman noted, there is no limit to the number of offices one person can be nominated for, nor is there a limit to the number of offices one person can be elected to, nor is there a limit to the number of offices one person can hold (though some combinations, such as president and vice-president, and president and secretary, should be avoided).
