Our club will have nominations of officers in a few days...When selecting the slate of officers as presented by the nominating committee, and if there are no other nominations from the floor...what would be the correct wording for the motion to accept the slate of officers?

Thanks for your help

If the Bylaws do not require a ballot vote, the chairman may declare the candidates elected by acclamation, and a motion is unnecessary. If the Bylaws require a ballot vote and do not provide an exception for uncontested elections, a ballot vote must be taken, and a motion to accept the nominees is out of order. I would also avoid using the word "slate."

There is no correct motion relating to a "slate".

If the bylaws require a ballot vote, then a ballot vote is mandatory, and this rule may not be suspended.

If the bylaws permit a ballot vote to be dispensed with for unopposed elections, a motion is not needed. The chair may simply declare each candidate, in turn (not a "slate"), elected by acclamation.
