Guest BfG6ZB Posted May 12, 2011 at 11:50 PM Report Share Posted May 12, 2011 at 11:50 PM We are updating our by-laws. A motion was made today to approve the proposed amendments that had been reviewed, discussed and adjusted so far today, the motion was seconded and approved by more than a required 2/3 vote of the members. Later in the day the convention meeting went into recess and will be resumed tomorrow. Obviously, we could have some different people in attendance tomorrow. If the amendments we reviewed today have now been approved through a proper 2/3 vote, when the meeting resumes tomorrow and we continue the discussion of the balance of the by-laws amendments (that we didn't discuss today), can a member re-open the discussion of any of today's approved amendments and can the approval vote today be reversed (undone)? Please cite the paragraphs in Roberts Rules that apply to this type of situation. Thanks for your help. J

JThe only way to change any amendment to your bylaws which has already been adopted will be to follow once again the procedure prescribed in your bylaws for their amendment. The votes by which these amendments were adopted cannot be reconsidered (RONR, p. 296, ll. 11-12).
