Guest Bryan W. Knicely Posted May 16, 2011 at 01:55 PM Report Share Posted May 16, 2011 at 01:55 PM My current board has a practice of inviting potential board members to attend the meeting that their nomination will come up for a vote to join the board. i have not worked in a nonprofit where this has been the practice. They might come to a committee meeting or sit in on a meeting...but not the one where they are slated for a vote...any thoughts?
David A Foulkes Posted May 16, 2011 at 02:48 PM Report Share Posted May 16, 2011 at 02:48 PM Only members of the Board have the right to attend meetings, but non-members may be invited if a majority of the board so desires. It's up to the Board to determine if it's a good idea or not.
Tim Wynn Posted May 16, 2011 at 02:51 PM Report Share Posted May 16, 2011 at 02:51 PM any thoughts? There's nothing wrong with the board inviting guests to board meetings. Is it in a board meeting where new board members are selected?
