Guest Sally Wagaman Posted June 12, 2011 at 08:29 PM Report Share Posted June 12, 2011 at 08:29 PM My organization will be amending our bylaws at our upcoming meeting. All of the amendments have been sent to the delegates in writing in advance. We will be considering the bylaws amendments seriatim. Several of the paragraphs are very long. Is there any way to waive or skip the reading of a paragraph for which there is no debate or amendment?

If a single member objects, the paragraph must be read.

Is there any way to waive or skip the reading of a paragraph for which there is no debate or amendment?Yes; the president can suggest that, since the text has been distributed in advance, the only portions that will be read are those for which any member requests it. This does not violate anyone's rights, since even a single member can compel the text to be read.
