Guest phpmarie Posted June 27, 2011 at 08:56 PM Report Share Posted June 27, 2011 at 08:56 PM In our organization, the exec committee reviewed the by-laws and submitted recommendations for changes to the R and R committee. The R& R committee reviewed and agreed to amend a recommendation regarding increasing the annual dues. These changes were to be read at the next meeting for information only, with a vote at the next monthly meeting. In the meantime the President has told the R & R committee that she has decided that these recommendations not be read as she doesn't agree with the R & R's changes. The exec committee had voted in unison at their meeting to send their recommendations to the R & R committee. Can the president withdraw these recommendations or should they be presented at the meeting as originally planned? What rule would cover this situation? J. J. Posted June 27, 2011 at 09:18 PM Report Share Posted June 27, 2011 at 09:18 PM No, once submitted they are under control of the committee, unless the committee is discharged. After the committee reports (or is discharged) the member that made the original motion may withdraw them, with the consent of the majority.
