Guest Dave Posted July 12, 2011 at 03:37 PM Report Share Posted July 12, 2011 at 03:37 PM We had our AGM, nobody stepped up for the presidents job, but we had an individual step up for the vice presidents job. Is he acting president until the next AGM, or can there be another election? Our president resigned last year and the vice became acting president, but at the AGM he didn't return. Is he past president now, or is the one who resigned?
David A Foulkes Posted July 12, 2011 at 03:50 PM Report Share Posted July 12, 2011 at 03:50 PM You might want to take a read through this recent thread. It would seem that you have an incomplete election (for President), so the VP stays as VP for now. But the "outgoing" President may still be President depending on the language in your bylaws about terms of office, vacancies and whatnot. Now, when the President resigned last year, the vice did not become "acting President" but actually became the President (assuming your rules don't say otherwise). You say he didn't return, whatever that means, but regardless he was the last president you had so that makes him the Immediate past president. But he may still be president depending on that language I mentioned earlier. The waters can get so muddy.
