Guest Country girl Posted July 19, 2011 at 12:31 AM Report Share Posted July 19, 2011 at 12:31 AM I was a board member for a 501©3 animal shelter which gets county money from contracts. I left the board, but, still I am a member. I am being denied the minutes and a PNL. Even though I requested to be placeon the following agenda as a guest speaker. I told the organizationthat my rights are being violated due to the Freedom act and as a member with in accordance to Roberts Rules.Apparently no board members understand this and would not give them in an email or mail them. But did say I can go to the shelter to review them. But they will not release them. What can I do? Don't they have to turn this info over to a member if they request it? So the board is meeting its obligation under RONR. There is nothing in RONR about profit and loss statements. If you have legal concerns, consult a lawyer. Chris Harrison Posted July 19, 2011 at 12:57 AM Report Share Posted July 19, 2011 at 12:57 AM Adding onto that I will also point out that only Board members have a right to review the minutes of Board meetings. If these are minutes of Board meetings we are talking about you as someone who is no longer a Board member have no right to even review the minutes. Tim Wynn Posted July 19, 2011 at 10:43 PM Report Share Posted July 19, 2011 at 10:43 PM Don't they have to turn this info over to a member if they request it?No, not according to Robert's Rules. For questions on the Freedom of Information Act, you'll need to consult an attorney.
