Guest Suzanne D Posted July 25, 2011 at 12:12 PM Report Share Posted July 25, 2011 at 12:12 PM Hello,Once a motion is made and voted on can it be reversed? If so, is it a matter of presenting new information and all members agreeing to re-vote? Thank you.
Chris Harrison Posted July 25, 2011 at 12:29 PM Report Share Posted July 25, 2011 at 12:29 PM If the motion was adopted it can be Rescinded (RONR pp. 293-299) and if it was defeated it can be renewed at the next session (RONR pp. 325-331). Any member can make either motion.

Any member can make either motion....and agreement of "all members" is not required. The vote required to rescind a previously adopted motion is 2/3 vote without notice, majority vote with notice, or a majority of the entire membership. (Some motions cannot be rescinded; see RONR for details.)If the motion was defeated in a previous session, it can be passed at a future session (renewal of a motion), normally by a majority vote.-Bob
