ironman848 Posted August 28, 2011 at 02:20 PM Report Share Posted August 28, 2011 at 02:20 PM our executive comitee passed a issue ( involving money). As the chair i am not for the final decision and i will bring this issue in front of the membership. The question is does it need to have a vote? if it does need a vote what are the rules as to the chairs involvement in a vote? Can i Veto
jstackpo Posted August 28, 2011 at 04:15 PM Report Share Posted August 28, 2011 at 04:15 PM First re-read your bylaws. The ExecComm may have the final say on the money matter - it depends on how much power the committee has vis a vis the general membership. If it is fair game to bring the matter to the general membership, this will require the same vote thresholds as rescind/amend something previously adopted - RONR, p. 293 ff.NO!! You do not have a "veto".
Rev Ed Posted August 28, 2011 at 05:36 PM Report Share Posted August 28, 2011 at 05:36 PM I concur - check the By-laws. Normally the Board (or in this case the Executive Committee) will be given the power to deal with handling money. The membership may have the right to overrule them, but the By-laws need to be checked.
