Guest Jayadev Posted August 29, 2011 at 12:41 AM Report Share Posted August 29, 2011 at 12:41 AM Our not for profit organization called for a general body meeting, complied with all constitution clauses sending meeting notice in advance of 21 days to all the existing members. The general body meeting is scheduled for Sept 11th 2011. Meanwhile today another 64 person become new members. Are these members entitle to attend the General body meeting scheduled on Sept 11th 2011? Thanks in advance
tctheatc Posted August 29, 2011 at 12:49 AM Report Share Posted August 29, 2011 at 12:49 AM if they are members when the meeting happens, why not? The fact that they might not have received the notice or received it later than others would not make them any less a member.
George Mervosh Posted August 29, 2011 at 12:50 AM Report Share Posted August 29, 2011 at 12:50 AM Unless you have some rule which would delay them excercising their membership rights, including voting, absolutely. RONR, p.
Rev Ed Posted August 29, 2011 at 05:25 PM Report Share Posted August 29, 2011 at 05:25 PM Check the rules regarding memberships. In some organizations, a member must be a member for a specific time frame (two weeks or a month for example) before having voting rights. Or only members on a specific date prior to the meeting have the right to vote.
Guest Kelly Morrow Posted September 17, 2011 at 01:19 AM Report Share Posted September 17, 2011 at 01:19 AM I am sorry if this question is posted on the wrong page, but I am very new to this forum. I ahve a new question for you. In our general membership meetings we have one person that interupts every meeting. He won't allow any one to finish thier discussion or comments to the board without his interuptions. We have requested that he allows the person that has the floor to speak, but that doesn't work. He is negative and starts drama in every meeting. He tries to intimidate the board and the members. What can we do to take care of this problem?
