Voting at General Meeting

At a recent General Meeting of a Non-Profit organization (area youth orchestra), a Director (not an officer) announced we needed to take a vote on newly nominated officers for the Board of Directors. There were only 2 nominations for 2 different offices and they were the same people who were already in office. The Director asked for a 'show of hands' as 'yay'. There was no discussion, no explanation of the officers and their offices. Consequently there were no hands raised for 'nay', except mine. The vote was carried. We are a non-profit organization with voting members. My question is to the voting procedure that took place at the General Meeting. Each family gets one vote. Does Roberts Rules give a proper procedure for voting and if so, what should that be?

Assuming that a quorum was present at the meeting, that notice had been given about the election in the call for the meeting, and that there is nothing in your bylaws to the contrary, the 2 nominees are duly elected.

Although the procedure was not perfect, the time to raise objections has likely passed.

There was NO NOTICE given to the membership that we would be voting. Consequently, the voting was announced 5 minutes before the end of the General Meeting and took place in less than a minute, leaving the membership wondering if the Board wasn't trying to 'pull a fast one' on the membership. Anything we can do at this point in time?

Do the bylaws specify which meeting the elections for Board officers are to take place?
