Guest Edgar Posted October 8, 2011 at 10:26 PM Report Share Posted October 8, 2011 at 10:26 PM Is the Nominating Committee appointed by the President or elected by the Body?RONR says that the president should have nothing to do with the nominating committee. But check your bylaws.
jstackpo Posted October 8, 2011 at 10:35 PM Report Share Posted October 8, 2011 at 10:35 PM And if the bylaws say nothing, the NomCom is established and appointed just as any other committee -- see RONR p.[489 / 471]*.But you don't have to even have a NomCom, but it is handy. Rob Elsman Posted October 8, 2011 at 11:11 PM Report Share Posted October 8, 2011 at 11:11 PM Is the Nominating Committee appointed by the President or elected by the Body?It is usually best for the body that will hold the election to also elect the members of the nominating committee. Where it is not practical for a general membership assembly to have such an election for a nominating committee, the power to elect the members of the nominating committee can be assigned to the executive board, instead.
