Guest Joel Posted October 24, 2011 at 08:56 PM Report Share Posted October 24, 2011 at 08:56 PM Is correct or proper for the President to vote on an issue before the members of the council vote? Should the President tell the council is preference before a vote is taken?I think it is improper.
Trina Posted October 24, 2011 at 09:04 PM Report Share Posted October 24, 2011 at 09:04 PM Take a look at FAQ #1 (on this website) and see if that addresses any of your concerns:http://www.robertsrules.com/faq.html#1Please feel free to ask further questions if the FAQ is not on the mark. Why is the president voting before other members of the assembly? Does his/her name come first in a roll call vote? Or is something else happening?Once voting has started, no one should be doing any further debating (expressing preferences) -- that would be improper, from the president, or from anyone else.
