Posting of minutes online

When an organization only meets 2 times a year, once in September and once in May, where the last meetings minutes do not get approved until the following meeting, must we wait until the meetings minutes are approved to post them on online, or are we able legally to post a draft of the minutes for review prior to the next meeting, with a disclaimer that states these are just for review only and have yet to be approved?

Nothing in RONR says you should or shouldn't post (or otherwise distribute) copies of the minutes, approved or unapproved.

What RONR does say is that you shouldn't wait six months to approve them. Appoint a committee (or authorize your board if you have one) to approve the minutes in a more timely manner.

Legal opinions are beyond the scope of this forum, so if there's a law that makes it illegal to post draft minutes, we might not be aware of it. But we probably would. And we're not. So there.

But you have the right idea about putting a notation such as - D R A F T - at the top and bottom, or something else that would indicate they were not yet approved. That will save you trouble.
