Guest Cake Lady Posted November 5, 2011 at 03:15 AM Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 at 03:15 AM A Board of Directors passes a motion that includes a date deadline for the completion of the task. (...to be presented by November 1st...) If that deadline passes and the task is not completed, what is the appropriate next steps for a COB? Guest Nancy N. Posted November 5, 2011 at 03:30 AM Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 at 03:30 AM First, the COB should tell people what COB stands for.
Guest Cake Lady Posted November 5, 2011 at 04:01 AM Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 at 04:01 AM My apologies. Chairman of the Board.
Chris Harrison Posted November 5, 2011 at 04:05 AM Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 at 04:05 AM I would recommend the Chair contact the people responsible for the task and finding out what their status is and when they expect to have it completed. Then at the next Board meeting that information should be given to the rest of the Board and the Board can take whatever actions they deem appropriate. Stay tuned for other ideas. Guest Nancy N. Posted November 5, 2011 at 04:15 AM Report Share Posted November 5, 2011 at 04:15 AM ... In other words, assuming I agree with Chris H, which I do when I know what's good for me, the matter is not really in the COB's lap as far as Robert's Rules is concerned. He's the facilitator of what the board does. If your COB has more authority than this, then what to do is commensurately more in his own bailiwick. The country doesn't explode. The organization doesn't implode. Someone didn't do what he, she, or they was, was, or were supposed to. So try to get it done, soonest, and discipline those who didn't do what they were supposed to, if that's appropriate. What else?
