Guest Karen Posted November 8, 2011 at 05:05 PM Report Share Posted November 8, 2011 at 05:05 PM Are you able to call it a school board meeting if there is not a quorum present, i.e only 2 members out of 5? Would this still be an official meeting?
Chris Harrison Posted November 8, 2011 at 05:14 PM Report Share Posted November 8, 2011 at 05:14 PM A properly called meeting is still a meeting even if there is no quorum (you just can do very little at that meeting).
Trina Posted November 8, 2011 at 05:17 PM Report Share Posted November 8, 2011 at 05:17 PM Sure, it's an official meeting (and would satisfy a requirement that a meeting be held at a certain time and place). However, the nonquorate meeting can't do very much -- fix a time to which to adjourn, adjourn, recess, or take measures to obtain a quorum. A few other procedural things may be done. See RONR (11th ed.) pp. 347-348.
