tomg Posted November 9, 2011 at 01:35 AM Report Share Posted November 9, 2011 at 01:35 AM Our bylaws state the House Committee has general supervision over the main Clubhouse and the management, use, maintenance, improvements and decoration thereof: We are starting a renovation project that is being handled by a building committee at the Board of Managers meeting a motion was made to take the decorations from the house committee and form a new Decoration Committee it was passed. Can this be done without a bylaw change.
Chris Harrison Posted November 9, 2011 at 01:50 AM Report Share Posted November 9, 2011 at 01:50 AM You can't refer a matter to a committee when that matter is currently under the purview of another committee. Of course you could amend the bylaws to transfer that responsibility over to a Decorations Committee but it probably would be easier and quicker to have the House Committee create a sub-committee on decorations. The sub-committee would deal with the decorations issue and make their report to the main committee who can do what they want with the report.
