Tim Wynn Posted November 10, 2011 at 12:53 PM Report Share Posted November 10, 2011 at 12:53 PM The bylaws say that motions "...shall be decided by a majority vote of the members present."Do abstentions have the same effect as negative votes or are they ignored? Both, actually. No special attention is paid to abstentions, but they have the same effect as a negative vote in determining the result. However, for the purpose of determining which members can move to Reconsider a motion that is lost, a negative vote and an abstention differ.
