Guest David Posted November 10, 2011 at 10:38 PM Report Share Posted November 10, 2011 at 10:38 PM Not-for-profit organization is committee run (approximately 25 different committees). Nominating Committee recommends slate of names to fill expiring terms. Question relates to open positions on the Nominating Committee itself. Is it proper for the Nominating Committee to recommend names for openings or should these particular positions be filled by nominations from the floor or at large? Josh Martin Posted November 10, 2011 at 10:45 PM Report Share Posted November 10, 2011 at 10:45 PM Is it proper for the Nominating Committee to recommend names for openings or should these particular positions be filled by nominations from the floor or at large?Follow what your Bylaws say, or if they're silent, the assembly may decide. RONR does not express a preference on this issue. Remember that, of course, nominations from the floor should be called for even if the Nominating Committee makes recommendations, but it's up to the assembly to determine whether the committee should make recommendations at all. If the assembly meets infrequently, I think the committee itself could make the decision unless and until it has specific instructions from the assembly.
