Guest Jessica Posted January 21, 2012 at 02:56 PM Report Share Posted January 21, 2012 at 02:56 PM We are a non profit club which has by-laws. We are run by paid memberships and fundraisers. We have monthly meetings, which are run by a board that is elected by the membership. We are having issues with parents (who have paid memberships) attending the meetings. They are addressing their concerns or questions and speaking throughout the meeting. How can we fix this issue. Yes we want parents to come to the meetings, but it is taking too long to address what the board has to address at our meetings because parents keep speaking and tossing in concerns or questions. Thanks Jessica
jstackpo Posted January 21, 2012 at 03:02 PM Report Share Posted January 21, 2012 at 03:02 PM Are the meetings you speak of meetings of the Board or of the general membership?
Guest Jessica Posted January 21, 2012 at 03:18 PM Report Share Posted January 21, 2012 at 03:18 PM No our meetings are of the Board. We only have one general membership meeting at the beginning of the year, which parents are suppose to attend. We introduce the board, talk about the parent handbook, talk about gymanstics meets, payments, fundraisers, etc.Jessica
jstackpo Posted January 21, 2012 at 03:22 PM Report Share Posted January 21, 2012 at 03:22 PM OK. Then the Board is free to set whatever groundrules it wishes with respect to non-board-members attending and speaking, &c.'Course you may ruffle some feathers this way, but in the interest of getting your association's work done you may have to take the heat. (That's what you get paid those big bucks for!)
