Guest Ken LaPierre Posted February 6, 2012 at 06:46 PM Report Share Posted February 6, 2012 at 06:46 PM If our President (Chairman) and Vice President will be absent from a schedulled meeting, must the meeting be cancelled?
Chris Harrison Posted February 6, 2012 at 06:53 PM Report Share Posted February 6, 2012 at 06:53 PM No. In fact RONR doesn't provide for a mechanism for cancelling a meeting. If you all really feel that you can't hold the meeting without the President and VP you can call the meeting to order (at the scheduled time) and set up an Adjourned Meeting (RONR pp. 242-247) for when the P and VP are there. David A Foulkes Posted February 6, 2012 at 07:37 PM Report Share Posted February 6, 2012 at 07:37 PM And the process behind this is that the Secretary (or another member in his/her absence) calls the meeting to order and presides over the election of a Chair pro tem. It's also worth mentioning that if a quorum is present at this meeting, there would be nothing to prevent business from being conducted validly even in the absence of the President and Vice President.
